Pierre-Emmanuel Rousseau was born in 1979.

 

After four first prices of the National Conservatory of Music of Rouen  and a major university education, Pierre-Emmanuel Rousseau  works with several directors, Jean-Claude Auvray, John Dew, Stéphane Braunschweig, Jérôme Deschamps and Macha Makeieff...

 

In 2010, Pierre-Emmanuel Rousseau makes the direction and the costumes of L'Amant Jaloux of Gretry at the Royal Opera of Versailles and at The Opéra Comique. This show is unanimously greeted by the critic and the audience. This production was broadcast on Mezzo and France2 and is now available on a DVD. 

Since 2013, Pierre-Emmanuel Rousseau has developed a regular collaboration with the TOBS-Biel, where he signs the staging, sets and costumes of Rossini's Il Turco in Italia, Donizetti's Viva la Mamma (on tour in 2015 in Basel And Treviso),  Rossini's Le Comte Ory, Donizetti's Don Pasquale. He is invited by Geneva Chamber Opera for Pomme d'Api / Mr. Choufleuri of Offenbach. With the Geneva Chamber Orchestra, he imagines a set-up for Mozart's Schauspieldirektor. Pierre-Emmanuel Rousseau stages Lehar's The Land of smiles in Tours, Don Pasquale in San Sebastian, Italiana in Algeri for the Blackwater Valley Opera Festival.

 

Pierre-Emmanuel Rousseau's next projects include Don Pasquale in Metz, The Land of smiles in Avignon, Barbiere di Siviglia in Strasbourg, Saint-Etienne and Rouen, Offenbach's Les Fées du Rhin in Tours and Biel , Le Comte Ory in Rennes, and Rouen, Don Pasquale in Blackwater Valley Opera Festival, La Clemenza di Tito in Rennes and Nantes, Gianni Schicchi  / Pagliacci  in Blackwater Valley Opera Festival, Hansel und Gretel in Strasbourg.

Pierre-Emmanuel Rousseau works with some prestigious maestri, John Eliott Gardiner, William Christie, Ludovic Morlot, François-Xavier Roth, Jérémie Rhorer, Christophe Rousset Marco Zambelli, Leonardo Garcia Alarcon... and some amazing singers, Karita Mattila, Sumi Jo, Kenneth Tarver, Véronique Gens, Frédéric Antoun, Stefan Margita, Hélène Guillemette, Julie Boulianne, Olga Peretyatko, Patricia Petitbon, Bernard Richter, Cynthia Makris, Richard Troxell, ...
